No one wants to have someone ruling over them. We all like to think that we would do just fine on our own, but we do not exist on our own. We need others for, if nothing else, partners to our offspring. We depend on others for their labor as they depend on us. This means that the group needs organization.

Like most truths, this one is hidden in plain sight: most people are fueled by ambition and personal drama. They want what they want and everyone else has to pay for it and clean up, if not outright subsidize it like in the Communist states. This flatters the human individualist.

A sane system minimizes ambition and personal drama by reducing social mobility. You do roughly what your ancestors did for a career, and you end up at about the same economic level, but in return you do not live in a society where everyone is scamming each other.

Social mobility makes people hyper-competitive and rent-seeking as well as socially compliant, in order to deflect potential criticism that might obstruct their ambitions. What most people blame on “capitalism” in fact has more to do with social mobility and the welfare state that supports it by generating bullshit McJobs.

Worse, it creates a competition for positions of power based on popularity, which means that whoever is cynical enough to manipulate the crowd gets to seize power. Groups of people select narcissists to lead them because narcissists tell them what they want to hear, not what is actual.

In order to make everyone feel good, the narcissists create mazes of rules, committees, triplicate forms, and procedures in order to hide what is going on: wealth is being taken away and given to narcissists and their allies. Votes are bought. The group votes itself into bankruptcy and instability.

All these rules mean that the narcissists in power cannot effectively do much of anything, but they like it that way. They want to go out, make speeches, spread some wealth around, and then keep stealing. This is the normal course of democracy and equality.

Only someone with absolute power can go back to the start of a problem, rip out the roots, and replace it with something better. Only someone not concerned with ambition and self-interest, like someone whose power is absolute, can rule for the sake of making beauty in his nation.

The Left knows this, and this is why for a thousand years they have tried to overthrow the kings and replace them with narcissists.
