From Pat Buchanan, an insight into why the Trump candidacy threatens the Cathedral:
If 2016 taught us anything, it is that if the establishment’s hegemony is imperiled, it will come together in ferocious solidarity—for the preservation of their perks, privileges and power.
All the elements of that establishment—corporate, cultural, political, media—are today issuing an ultimatum to Middle America:
Trump is unacceptable.
Just like in any Leftist regime, reality has been denied, and those who deny it the most get promoted while the competent people suffer. This is discrimination against the intelligent and good so that the mediocre can rule, and predictably, the mediocre are bad at leadership and morally corrupt.
Trump is the backlash: people saying “we do not actually need this” to the Leftist establishment. By even getting as far as he has, he has crushed the legitimacy of the establishment, and if his popularity continues to silently rise as it has been, he will replace this hierarchy of the illegitimate with something better.
Take heart.
