  • Nigel Farage suggests coronavirus will make people less afraid of a no-deal Brexit

Globalism means that we all go down together. Nationalism means that some might escape. This troubles most people, only because they want a universal solution where all are saved; in reality, only some can climb above the fugue in which most exist and find a better way. Others emulate that, and all benefit, appearances to the contrary.

  • Americans must relearn to sacrifice in the time of coronavirus

When evolutionary pressures relax, people tend toward a mentality of accepting everything because the common wealth can subsidize it; when evolutionary pressures intensify, people start to think in terms of quality not quantity. Now that the easy days are over, we must contemplate what actually offers value, and preserve that against the constant onslaught of stupidity, solipsism, and selfishness.

  • U.S. Senators urge Twitter to ban Chinese Communist Party from platform

Once the censorship “for your best interests” begins, where does it end? We might as well exclude those who endorse ideologies that killed a hundred million people during the last century. This clashes with Silicon Valley pretense, which holds that the best system involves our current wealthy elites ruling over everyone else.

  • 2 injured after gas leak causes home explosion on Detroit’s west side

Police say the woman told firefighters the house blew up right after she lit up a crack pipe.

The explosion caused the home to fully collapse.

Some neighbors told Chowdhry they heard gunshots around the same time.

Daily failing civilization news hilarity, apparently.

  • Bank of America says the recession is already here: ‘Jobs will be lost, wealth will be destroyed’

Business faces a shutdown of several months. We will have to increase actual productivity, not just pointless economic activity, in order to recover. This will require abolishing unions, the administrative branch of government, and high taxes. That in turn requires letting go of free stuff from government. Can democracy save itself, or will the gifts outweigh the future?

  • Two generic drugs being tested in U.S. in race to find coronavirus treatments

Perhaps the solution is simpler than was thought.

  • Publishers complain about media buyers blacklisting coronavirus content

The censorship regime collapses as it attempts to end “fake news,” and in doing so, removes vital content.

  • Coronavirus: Over 170 MPs and Lords call for universal basic income during pandemic

The herd cannot stop its inertia, leading toward more Leftism even though Leftism has failed so far. They want socialism via the backdoor, instead of stimulating business in order to provoke it into maintaining salaries. Once the crisis has passed, they will demand that the de facto socialism remain because we will all be accustomed to it at that point. Then the boom/bust cycle will begin anew, followed by more cries for more socialism, since only by doing that do we ensure that every individual can pursue his own dreams, hopes, illusions, and fears…

  • Pakistani Man, Off to Join ISIS, Is Arrested at Minneapolis Airport, U.S. Says

More diversity follies. Import the world, import its conflicts. Now we have fully radicalized terrorists wandering among us. In the name of our Constitution, of course, we can do nothing about this but bust the ones that our Patriot Act surveillance is able to intercept. No one dares ask the dark question: what happens when one of them does not use cell phone, internet, or landline communications? Then we simply have another inexplicable terrorist event, a part and parcel of living in an open democratic society!

  • Coronavirus’ looming psychological crisis

Living in a state of constant stress makes people adopt a hybrid of Stockholm Syndrome and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This in turn makes them tend to choose poorly, especially where politics is concerned. The policeman who stops a crisis gets no medal, but the one who lets it go on long enough to demonstrate the need for lots of police gets made into the new police chief. Government will choose crisis followed by intervention that doubly affirms the need for more government. In the meantime, people will become more withdrawn and paranoid, to the point of huddling in their apartments and ordering everything they need from Amazon, Walmart, and Costco while ignoring the larger question of our future as a civilization.

  • Airlines and train companies could be nationalised to prevent them going bust, transport secretary says

The Left wants socialism by any method, at any cost. If this crisis bankrupts industries, we will follow the New Deal model and move further to the Left. At that point, repealing all of this bad law will be unlikely, and so our society will be as transformed as the UK after British Socialism, meaning that we accept a neo-Soviet regime as the “new normal.” When that is achieved, only violent revolt offers a way out. Obviously it makes sense to avoid that deadlock.

  • 10 Chinese speedboats attack Taiwan coast guard cutters

The Chinese economy hit a soft mud wall in 2009, and since then, has been cycling through known methods of success in order to keep itself afloat, most of which involve direct or indirect government-provided stimulus. Now that coronavirus has eaten the excess, China has no choice but to begin preparations for warfare in order to keep its burgeoning population oriented toward practical goals. The US will either save Taiwan and start WW3 now, or let Taiwan go, and sew the seeds for a more difficult war later. Democracy always chooses today over tomorrow.

  • Australia spy chief warns of “unprecedented” foreign espionage threat

We are in the grips of a new cold war that threatens to move to “warm” warfare. Most would prefer to ignore this, especially the Leftist parties funded by China. A few are willing to speak up, knowing that the herd will out of fear ignore them.

  • 4 senators sold stock before steep market losses from virus

So it always goes in democracy. The main value in being in government consists of the ability to see the news before it happens, and to profit from it. Not surprisingly, most of our Congress start out as humble civil servants and end up as multimillionaires.

  • Coronavirus: The detectives racing to contain the virus in Singapore

Fascism works. Tracking people exposed to this virus and forcing them into quarantine reduces its spread, where voluntarist methods like self-quarantine have problems. If first world governments had any clue, they would organize food and water deliveries to their citizens, stopping the mingling which spreads the disease. However, that clashes with our notion of the open society, so it cannot be done, even if many more will die as a result.

  • UK Charedi rabbis issue statement to make clear their schools cannot talk about same-sex relations in class

Sane people favor tolerance of LGBT that keeps itself quiet. What belongs in the bedroom, keep in the bedroom. In its zeal for enforcing equality, however, our modern society demands that such things belong on the street, alienating those who want to stick to the biological imperative of chaste heterosexual nuclear families. In this way, like so many others, our pursuit of symbolic purity erases our need for normal productive existence.

  • It will soon be compulsory for South African kids to start school at an earlier age – new laws to be tabled this year

Schooling achieves little because most cannot be educated beyond the basics. That offends the egalitarians, so they respond with a quantity over quality argument, demanding that there be more education to compensate for the qualitative failure of education. When we assume that all people are equal in ability, we end up in a meritocracy loop of setting standards and then adjusting them when the results are unequal.

  • Republicans against Trump open to voting for a moderate Democrat — just not Sanders

Increasingly our society divides into denialists who want to believe that the current regime can succeed, and realists who point out that we are chasing ideological symbols into conditions of our doom. The moderate Republicans, who specialize in doing nothing that will offend the Left, find themselves cheering for more Leftism in the interest of not rocking the boat too much. They might discover that this is a lonely place, since the Republican electorate has moved on to reversing demographic displacement and undoing decades of insane quasi-socialist policy.

  • New Jersey Raises Terror Threat Level for White Supremacist Extremists to High

As liberal democratic market socialism enters its endgame, punishing symbolic deviance becomes more important than addressing the problems which foster it. No society can escape from this Soviet-style death cycle.

  • Mortality rate by education level: Chart shows where people end up

No one wants to admit it, but those of higher IQ end up with better life outcomes by all measurements. Instead of accepting the obvious, we correlate to education and conclude that if we “educate” everyone, we can achieve Utopia. In reality, some are born to sweet delight, and some are born to the endless night.
