• Deutsche Bank’s brutal overhaul is sign that global financial system is in trouble

  On Monday, the German multinational investment bank –and the world’s 15th largest bank by total assets– started cutting thousands of jobs as part of an $8.3 billion overhaul announced one day earlier. The bank’s workforce is set to be reduced by 18,000 to around 74,000 employees by 2022, as Deutsche Bank scraps its global equities and trading operations. The move has already impacted the bank’s shares, which started to fall after initial 4 percent gains on Monday. “The financial system is in trouble and this is just one sign of what is going on. This has happened in previous financial problems in the 1930s or the 1960s or the 1990s,” Rogers said in a phone interview with RT. He explained that central banks around the globe drove interest rates “to crazy levels,” and now we have to pay the price for that.

  The financial system would be in less jeopardy if Deutsche Bank were allowed to simply pocket the results of its deciaion-making processes. Instead, bail-outs keep capital in the hands of idiots. As long as people are afraid to let Deutsche Bank die, we know the answer to Michael Burry’s astonished and anguished question: “Who is actually dumb enough to own this stuff?”

  In 2015, when the U.S. Women’s National Team beat Japan to take the World Cup in Vancouver, the Women’s World Cup brought in almost $73 million in revenue, of which the players got 13 percent — $10 million. In 2010, the men’s World Cup in South Africa made almost $4 billion, of which 9 percent — $348 million — went to the players. The men simply make more money for FIFA — boatloads more money. The men’s World Cup in Russia generated over $6 billion in revenue, with the participating teams sharing $400 million, less than 7 percent of the revenue. Meanwhile, the Women’s World Cup was expected to earn $131 million for the 2019-2022 cycle and give out $30 million to participating teams. That’s a whopping 22.9 percent!

  There is a very easy way for Women’s National Soccer Team players to enjoy equal pay. Generate a fun and exciting game that rivals the men’s game. That way they too will generate $6B of revenue instead of $131M. Had they really been into equal pay and had given the men 23% of the gate when the Russian World Cup made $6B, the men would have been splitting $1.3B. It’s a good thing those FIFA piggies are all sexist brutes. Pay the men proportionally to the ladies, and a lot of the most talented and capable male players in the world would cash out and never run a 200 Push-Up Suicide again.

  France will introduce an “eco-tax” of up to €18 (£16.19) on tickets for all flights leaving the country, the government has announced. The new tax will range from €1.50 for short-haul flights and up to €18 for long-haul journeys in business class.

  Epstein’s “business” might have involved people an order of magnitude richer than that who were facing consequences much more severe than a sexual harassment suit if their behavior with minors was found out. He could have named his price theoretically from some of them. And that feeds into the “intelligence asset” theory: If Epstein had life-destroying evidence against powerful men abroad, obviously that would be of use potentially to U.S. intelligence. It might also explain how Epstein managed to avoid being killed by any of these powerful blackmailed men. Maybe he was being protected somehow by people with the means to provide protection. Or maybe he let it be known to his blackmail targets that he’d already shared the evidence with U.S. intel and any attempt to harm him would result in them using it.

  (((Epstein))) must be a very creepy and frightening human being to know on a personal level. Acosta was well convinced that he would have died had (((Epstein))) been convicted of anything life-wrecking. The ability of a high-end pimp to drop the hammer on public officials tells us everything we need to know about why morally corrupt individuals really should be impeached. Even if it is “just about sex.” It’s never just about the intercourse. (((Epstein))) may well be empowered to make policy when he so chooses thanks to the perverted appetites of powerful customers.

• RIP Ross Perot 1930 – 2019

  Ross Perot was the first modern presidential candidate to cut through both sets of party lines and reach out to the monster vote. Perot’s ferocious opposition to the NAFTA trade deal, and all economic policies against U.S. interests, was the center of his campaign. There are striking similarities between President Trump and Ross Perot particularly around America-First trade deals and prioritizing policy for the American worker.
  

  Back in 1992 I believed H. Ross Perot was The Devil. He gave us Bill Clinton; I deluded myself. Then in 2016, I woke up on the wrong side of the floor one morning and voted for a GOP Candidate with a very similar set of political views to that poor guy I called a nut-job 24 years before. I like to think time brings a leavening of wisdom. It certainly brought a dose of vindication for Perot’s quixotic runs in 1992 and 1996. Ross, congratulations for being magnificently correct on immigration and the border. Godspeed towards your hereafter.

• UCLA prof guilty of conspiring to steal missile secrets for China, could face more than 200 years in prison

  A jury found an electrical engineer and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) professor guilty of exporting stolen U.S. military technology to China. UCLA adjunct professor Yi-Chi Shih was convicted June 26 on 18 federal charges, Newsweek reported, and could now lose hundreds of thousands of dollars, while also facing up to 219 years behind bars for numerous violations of the law. These include conspiracy to break the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), committing mail and wire fraud, lying to a government agency, subscribing to a false tax return, and conspiring to gain unauthorized access to information on a protected computer, according to a Department of Justice news release.

  But doesn’t the Magic Dirt Theory preclude such perfidy? Why wasn’t Yi-Chi Shih magically transformed into a flag-waving (((Bill Kristol))) wannabe? He should be cranking out #NeverTrump dreck over at The Bulwark or something. The civic nationalism should run blue in his once red veins. Why do you guys think it doesn’t?
