Some criticize the old world for being based on a logic outside of the material and social sphere with which humans are comfortable. We forget that the oldest illusion is thinking that what we see is all that is there. Our perspective bias makes us forget the wider world of possibility, which forces us to act in ways that are convenient for our manipulators. As you look at Senator Wendy Russell Davis, a Democrat from Texas, in a comparison between her law school yearbook picture and how she is post-surgery, post-press consultant, etc., consider which you’d prefer: turtles or illusions? Because it’s illusions all the way down.
