When we tie things together, they go down together; when everything acts independently, the individuals are more resilient but nothing shared can be preserved. The only solution is to share a goal and to work together where goals overlap, i.e. pursuit of the transcendent, but most of humanity has a screaming kicking and crying tantrum if you suggest this because they are selfish little monkeys.
