Everyone else followed his model: send the real manufacturing offshore, keep the brand in the US, and resell what is made worldwide as if it were a domestic product. Eventually companies just started licensing to China, where unions would never shutdown the plant because they already controlled the government (socialism) and therefore depended on the plant income. The workers got entitlements instead.
