Avoiding Media Feedback Cycles

Back in the 1980s, it was apparent that a niche industry had emerged that involved offending the Moral Majority types so that they fired up their boycott machine, which then signaled to everyone else to go buy the controversial album, book, magazine, or object in order to stay on top of what was trendy, edgy, and new.

This industry still exists, by the way. Anything that conservatives make a big outcry about becomes validated for normies to purchase. It is now “safe,” since it opposes the evil White people and their evil political party. They figured this one out in the 1960s because it sold Boomer rock records.

Over the years this has played out in different industries. When the Right wants to keep a book away from children, all the good useless people run out and buy it. When the Christian Right becomes outraged by some practice, it trends. Anything MAGA dislikes becomes a signature brand for the bourgeois liberals.

Interestingly, the same is true of Jews. The more the Right wails about Jews, the more powerful Jews seem to be, and the more normal people become worried and switch their sympathies to be anti-anti-Semitic. The Right routinely makes Jews into leaders in entertainment and politics simply by being outraged at their outrageousness.

On the far-Right, all the groups long ago became addicted to media controversy. When the far-Righters march, the media shows up, the anti-hate organizations take huge donations, and the Republicans rally around being anything but the far-Right.

When you let the opposition define the issues and set the agenda, you will always be following in a position of lesser strength and consequently, make them more importantly. The Right has to stop thinking in moral binary terms and start thinking strategically about how to defeat its adversaries.
